Candidate Category

Ideal candidates for the LRN Level 3 Diploma in Pre-U Foundation Studies include those who:

Entry Requirements

Candidates should possess:

       At least 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C (may need to be in specific subjects)

       Level 2/First Diploma (in a relevant subject with merit or distinction)

       NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification, or relevant experience (for mature applicants)

       Speaking, listening, reading, and writing ability at CEFR Level B1 (or equivalent) to meet communication requirements

Mode of Delivery

This qualification can be delivered within centers or via distance learning. Centers must demonstrate to LRN, through the center recognition process, that they have the necessary resources, facilities, and competence for either delivery method. Centers may apply to offer both methods if desired and must meet LRN’s criteria for capability, capacity, and resources (including qualified center staff).

The LRN Level 3 Diploma in Pre-U Foundation Studies accommodates candidates’ diverse backgrounds, education levels, and career goals.

Assessment

Assessments are written, externally set by LRN, and marked according to the assessment criteria listed. To ensure rigorous quality assurance, each marked assessment will be moderated. 

Assessments are based on the Distinction/Merit/Pass/Fail criteria.

Grading

Results are reported as Distinction, Merit, Pass, or Fail grades.

Use of plagiarism software

LRN will use plagiarism software to analyze each assessment submitted by candidates. This software detects similarities in candidates’ work and identifies potential plagiarism. Candidates found to have plagiarized their assessments will fail the assessment and unit. LRN will inform centers and candidates of the acceptable similarity tolerance for each assessment.

Assessment Criteria

The assessment criteria specify the requirements candidates must meet to demonstrate that they have achieved the learning outcome. Command verbs reflect the qualification level.

Results

LRN will issue results within 4 to 6 weeks of assessment submission.
